Cornelia Oschkenat

Cornelia Oschkenat (born Riefenstahl; born October 29, 1961 in Neubrandenburg ) is a former German track and field athlete and Olympian, who - was active in the 100 - meter hurdles - starting for the GDR.

Life

At the European Championships 1982, they still eliminated in advance. The following year, however, she could at the World Championships in Helsinki reach seventh place ( 12.95 s, with wind assistance). At the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, she was unable to attend because of the boycott of the GDR. In 1985 she became European Indoor champion. A year later Oschkenat was able to defend her title and at the European Championships in Stuttgart, she won the silver medal ( 12.55 s ).

In Indianapolis, it was 1987 World Indoor champion. At the World Championships, which took place in Rome in the summer of the same year, she won bronze in the 100 - meter hurdles ( 12.46 s ) and the 4 x 100 meters relay silver (along with Silke Gladisch, Kerstin Behrendt and Marlies Goehr ). In 1988, she was the third time European Indoor champion. At the Olympic Games in Seoul, she came in eighth place ( 13.73 s ). At their last major international competition was at the European Championships in 1990 in four ( 12.94 s ).

In 1984 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze and 1986 winner of silver.

Cornelia Oschkenat competed for the SC Dynamo Berlin and the OSC Berlin. In her competition time, she was 1.76 m tall and weighed 65 kg. In the becoming public knowledge after the fall of documents to the state doping in the GDR was found in the doped athletes also the name of Oschkenat.

In 1984 she married the hurdler Andreas Oschkenat. After the turn she opened a restaurant with her husband.
