Life

Cornelis Dusart was born on April 24 1660 in Haarlem. He joined in 1679 in the local Guild of St. Luke, and died on October 1, 1704, also in Haarlem. He formed after Adriaen van Ostade and became one of his best imitators. In some of his pictures, representing church fairs, tavern scenes and rural pleasures, he is the master confusingly alike, but generally remains in the clarity of color, the vibrancy of the lecture and the fineness of individualization, where he easily falls into the cartoon, behind him. His works often CONFIGURE under which Ostade; even the peasants designated by his name in front of the inn at Belvedere in Vienna, but one of Dusarts best pictures, went long under Ostade's name. Masterpieces of Dusart are especially in the Museums of Amsterdam ( Fish Market ), Dresden and St. Petersburg. Very Ostade's tastes are his etchings.
