Corner Brook

Corner Brook is a city in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is located at the Bay of Islands at the mouth of the river Humber.

James Cook charted in 1767 for the first time the bay, was built in the later Corner Brook. The present city was originally composed of four economically independent communities which were united in 1956. In 1999, Corner Brook from along with Deer Lake, Pasadena, and Stephenville, the Canada Games.

The largest employer is the Brooks Corner Corner Brook Pulp & Paper Mill The city is the commercial center of western Newfoundland, with shopping, hospital, government agencies and the Memorial University of Newfoundland associated university.

Sports

In Corner Brook resided until the year 2012 Corner Brook Royals Hockey Team that played in the Pepsi Centre. Also, due to the hall costs decided the club owner Ross Coates, relocate the team in the 50 km far Deer Lake. The team was subsequently renamed in Western Royals.
