It consists of Tjinder Singh (vocals, dholak ), Ben Ayres ( guitar, keyboards, tambourine ), Anthony Saffery ( sitar, keyboards), Nick Simms (drums ) and Peter Bengry ( percussion). History

The band's name refers to the Indian immigrants in England operated on street corners shops - the so-called corner stores. Singh and Ayres met in 1989 while studying in Preston. The idea was born to a band from the initial experimentation with musical instruments and repurposed household appliances.

As the singer Morrissey was slandered the early 90s of the English music press as apparent racist, the band burned a picture of him in front of a building, the record company EMI.

Larger notoriety she gained after Fatboy Slim Brimful of Asha successfully published as a remix. The song is a tribute to the legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle, also known as a musician for Bollywood films. It can be found on the 1997 album When I Was Born For The 7th Time, which was over half a million copies sold.

In 1999 the band released the album Disco And The Halfway To Discontent. This was more inspired by disco music and a part of their side project Clinton. New ways went Corner Shop in 2011 with its publication Cornershop And The Double-O Groove Of, and born in New Delhi and brought up in Lancashire singer Bubbley Kaur. While the song titles are written in English, the lyrics are kept exclusively in Punjabi. The title topknot on the album had been doing successfully published in 2004 as a single.

According to the official website of the band since 2003, working on a film about the independent scene in London.
