Coronel is a port city in the central Chile, 23 km south of Concepcion in the Región del Bío -Bío. The port city of Coronel is located on the Gulf of Arauco and has 92 941 inhabitants ( 2005). The city area is 279 km ².

History

Since 1849 is broken down in the mines to Coronel coal.

Became famous for the city through the naval battle that took place in the waters off Coronel on 1 November 1914.

Economy
