Corpus Christi College (Oxford)

The Corpus Christi College is a college of the University of Oxford.

Richard Fox, Bishop of Winchester, founded in 1517, this small college for the study of theology, Latin and ancient Greek. In the main courtyard stands a sundial, which was constructed in 1581 by Charles Turnbull. The top is decorated with a pelican, which symbolizes the body of Christ (Corpus Christi ).

President of Corpus Christi College, Oxford from 1881 to 1904 was the John Locke 's biographer, Thomas Fowler ( 1832-1904 ), 1904-1924, the philosopher Thomas Case ( 1844-1925 ) between 1924 and 1933, the Erasmus researchers Percy Stafford Allen and since 1933 the Hellenist Richard Winn Livingstone ( 1880-1960 ).
