Corrado Ursi

Cardinal Corrado Ursi ( born July 26, 1908 in Andria, Province of Barletta -Andria -Trani, Italy, † August 29, 2003 in Naples) was Archbishop of Naples.

Life

Corrado Ursi studied the subjects of Catholic theology and philosophy in Andria and Molfetta. He received on 25 July 1931, the sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked as chancellor of rain and at the Pontifical Seminary of Molfetta and as a pastor in various churches.

Pope Pius XII. appointed him in 1951 as Bishop of Nardo, Pope John XXIII. conferred on him in 1961 the management of the Archdiocese Acerenza. Corrado Ursi participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council. Pope Paul VI. appointed him in 1966 as Archbishop of Naples, and took him a year later, on 26 June 1967, when cardinal priest with the titular church of San Callisto in the College of Cardinals to. Cardinal Corrado Ursi resigned from the leadership of the Archdiocese of Naples in 1987 for reasons of age. He was then an honorary citizen of Naples. He died on 29 August 2003 with 95 years in Naples and was buried in the Basilica of Capodimonte. At the time of his death he was the last Cardinal, who was in the consistory of 1967 Cardinal.
