The Estadio La Corregidora is a football stadium in the city of Queretaro in the same Mexican state of Querétaro. The stadium was a venue for the 1986 World Cup staged in Mexico and served in the course of its short history been different teams as a home ground. Since the beginning of the new millennium here carries the Querétaro Fútbol Club from its home games.

History

The history of the stadium began in 1982, when the then Governor of the State of Querétaro, Rafael Camacho Guzmán, his plan gave expression to want to build a large football stadium in the capital of the same.

Construction began on March 17 in 1983 and were completed on 31 December 1984. The official opening took place with the meeting of the national teams of Mexico and Poland on 5 February 1985. It is so far the only international match of a Mexican national soccer team in Querétaro and was won by the home side's impressive 5-0.

The name of the stadium was awarded in memory of the Mexican national heroine Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez also known as La Corregidora, who had long lived and worked in the city of Querétaro.

Home ground of different teams

Because the city of Querétaro has achieved a changing football history - this is particularly due to the long-standing weakness and lack of sporting continuity of the two most important clubs in the city (which in 1999 merged ) - and multiple teams entered into the city, the here is a ( new ) audience wanted to open up (but all of them were not accepted by the audience), the stadium already served a variety of clubs as a home ground, of which five different teams in the Primera División.

First, in the 1986/87 season brought a temporary establishments located in Querétaro "art club " called Cobras de Querétaro league football to the Estadio La Corregidora. The association, however, rose from promptly and was shipped before the start of next season in the border city of Juárez.

In the 1989/90 season here bore the come from the capital club Atlante tradition from its home games. He, too, was not accepted by the audience, also dismounted immediately and returned before the start of the next season to Mexico City.

The stadium was, however, in the coming seasons to see major league football, because with the Querétaro Fútbol Club played a real home-grown of the city between 1990/91 and 1993/94 for four years in the first division.

After their descent it took his Tampico - Madero FC during the 1994/95 season to Querétaro, where this occurred under the name TM Gallos Blancos. Like its two predecessors -down here ( Cobras and Atlante ), he also was not accepted by the audience and left the city (and the first league) after one year.

Since the season 2002/ 03 of Querétaro FC has repeatedly brought major league football here and use the stadium since then as its fixed abode. Strictly speaking, there is no longer the same club, who already fought out its home games at the local stadium between 1990 and 1994 because of the same club in 1999 with the other traditional club of the city, which occurred last under the name Gallos Blancos de la UAQ, merged. The merger project was initially the full name Querétaro Fútbol Club Gallos Blancos, but is now again shortened as Querétaro Fútbol Club perceived and represented in this form on the club logo.
