Corrido

The Corrido is a literary and musical genre that is particularly widespread in the Mexican Mestizenkultur. It has its origins in the Spanish romances of the 15th century.

History

Originally, the corrido was one of the principal means of information dissemination in Mexico: the linguistic and musical simplicity of corridos were the requirements of the oral transmission of very good adequate. After the advent of mass media in the Mexican society in the second half of the 20th century, but the function and thus the corrido itself has changed fundamentally.
