Corus Entertainment Inc. is a major media company with its head office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The company operates several television and radio stations, produces radio and television broadcasts and publishes books for children. The company also operates a publishing company and employs about 2,000 people. The company has drawn on the stock exchanges in Toronto and New York.

History

The Company was formed by the telecommunications company Shaw Communications and was designed by JR Shaw founded. 1999 Corus Entertainment was spun off from Shaw Communications and floated on the stock exchange.

Corus Entertainment includes television stations such as YTV, Treehouse TV, W Network, Movie Central, CMT, Teletoon, Encore Avenue, Nelvana, Nickelodeon.

Radio stations

Corus Entertainment operates approximately fifty radio stations across Canada. Some of them are inter alia to in Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Vancouver. Corus Entertainment is 100 % owner of the radio station. Thus, Corus Entertainment is the fourth-largest radio operator for Astral Media, Newcap Broadcasting and Rogers Media.

Nelvana

Corus Entertainment took over the company Nelvana, founded in 1971. Nelvana is one of the world's leading international producer and distributor of animated children's programs. Nelvana develops, manufactures and markets the animated series. Further features include the produced children's programs for Corus Kids Television entertainment portfolio. The Nelvana Studio operates a digital animation production studio in Toronto. Nelvana has completed 4000 created animated children's programs in the portfolio such as Babar, Franklin, Rolie Polie Olie and Berenstain Bears. Nelvana animated children's programs are broadcast in over 150 countries and have won over 70 major international awards including Emmy and Gemini Awards.

Kids Can Press

Kids Can Press is published for children of the largest Canadian publisher of books specifically. The publishing house has published 500 books a rich portfolio of coloring books with non-fiction and fiction topics for children of different ages. The book Franklin the Turtle was so successful that it paid more than 60 million books were produced in 30 languages.
