Corvera de Asturias

Corvera is a concejo (Eng. Council, equivalent to a municipality, the municipality s ) of the Spanish autonomous community of Asturias. Corvera is bordered to the north by Avilés and Gozon, to the east by Carreño and Gijón, in the south of Llanera and Illas and to the west by Castrillón.

The community experienced a large population growth, as there the steelworks of state ENSIDESA was built ( the first was one of Aceralia after merger with another company, in 2001 with two other groups of companies merged to form Arcelor ). In addition, there are chemical factories of DuPont and the Spanish fertilizer company Fertiberia.

In the community, as almost all of Asturias is characterized by scenic mountains and forests, there are natural recreation areas, where water can be used, for example, the reservoir of Tresona, as well as hiking trails.

The temperature in the community is pleasant in winter and temperate in summer, because the Corvera is located relatively close to the sea.

Policy

The ruling in Corvera Corvera de Unión Social Progresista (German Social Union of Progressive Corvera ) is a local party that founded the original the PSOE belonging to today's mayor Moro local elections in 2003. It provides the local elections of 2003 the mayor and six of the 16 other council members and ruled together with the Partido Popular ( 3 seats ). Previously Corvera had been ruled by the PSOE since the first nachfranquistischen elections in 1979, but according to the internal strife, secession Moros and unfortunate campaign received only 3 seats. Partido Popular had never participated in the municipal government.
