Cory Murphy

Cory Murphy ( born February 13, 1978 in Kanata, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since May 2013 in the Växjö Lakers Hockey in the Svenska ligands under contract.

Career

Cory Murphy began his career as a hockey player in the team of Colgate University, where he was active from 1997 to 2001. Then the Canadians moved to the SM- liiga, the highest Finnish league, where he ever two seasons aground for the Espoo Blues and Ilves Tampere. After a one-year commitment in the Swiss National League A in Fribourg- Gottéron Murphy returned back to Finland in 2006, where he played the following year for HIFK Helsinki. There he was awarded in the 2006/07 season as the best defender, best player in the Main Round and the best player of the season, after which the defender, who had never been drafted earlier, was taken from the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League contract.

In the season 2007/ 08 - his first season in the NHL - scored 17 points scorer Murphy, including two goals in 47 games for the Panthers, who submitted him in the course of the following season to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Murphy came to 25 inserts for the Lightning scored five goals and scored 15 points. On 17 July 2009 he signed a contract with the New Jersey Devils. The following season he played primarily at the Lowell Devils farm team in the American Hockey League and also came to twelve games for the New Jersey Devils in the NHL. After the 2009/10 season, Murphy decided to continue his career in Switzerland with the ZSC Lions, where he signed a contract for two year term on June 4, 2010.

In the 2012/13 season he was at HK Dinamo Minsk under contract before it was in May 2013 committed by the Växjö Lakers Hockey of the Svenska ligands.

Internationally

For Canada, Murphy took part in the A World Cup 2007, in which he became world champion with his team.
