COSAFA Cup

The COSAFA Senior Challenge (until 2007 COSAFA Castle Cup, German football championship of Southern Africa) is an annual football tournament, which is from the Football Association of Southern Africa, COSAFA organized. The competition was named after a brewery COSAFA Castle Cup. It was introduced in 1997 after the African Cup of 1996 in South Africa to enable the African Cup and the World Cup qualifiers usually defeated teams from southern Africa is a possibility of comparison in competitive sports. However, competition is open to only members of the COSAFA that actively promote youth and women's football; next part were also teams from African countries that do not belong to the COSAFA invited to participate.

Participations

During 1997, only nine teams ( including a non- COSAFA selection) took part in the competition, since 2008, when the Comoros joined the COSAFA, now 14 participants.

* Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea and Kenya are not a member of COSAFA, however, have got guest rights. 1Äquatorial Guinea has canceled his participation shortly. 2Madagaskar has canceled his participation shortly. 3Tansania received Gastpielrechte, but is not started. 4Turnier was not discharged.
