Cosnac
Cosnac ( Occitan Cosnac ) is a commune in the Corrèze département on the western edge of the Massif Central. The municipality is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté d' agglomération de Brive. The inhabitants call themselves Cosnacois (it).

Geography
Tulle, prefecture of the department is located, about 30 kilometers north-east of Brive -la -Gaillarde about six kilometers north-west and Beaulieu -sur -Dordogne approximately 35 kilometers southeast. The Bach Le Pian, a left tributary of the Corrèze, flows through the municipal area. Furthermore, the Loyre fringed, also a left tributary of the Corrèze, the area to the north.

Neighboring communities of Cosnac are Malemort -sur -Corrèze and Dampniat in the north, La Chapelle- aux- Brocs and Lanteuil in the east, Turenne in the south, Jugeals -Nazareth in the southwest and Brive- la -Gaillarde in the West.

The junction 50 for A20 Motorway is approximately 11 kilometers north-west.
History
Stratigraphically determined finds from the Mesolithic period and remains of dolmen from the Neolithic period show a long history of settlement of the area. While there are from the Bronze and Iron Age finds no, again seem former brickworks from Roman times to prove a continuous settlement of the area. The name comes etymologically from the Gallo- Roman language area, as evidenced by the suffix- acum, in Occitan from ac and was designated a place or court. The community name itself refers to a basic rule with the name Coznac from the 11th century. The interior of the mansion of Cosnac is today often associated with the rediscovery of the ancient troglodyte quarry Abri des Roches. The presence of anthropomorphic sculptures suggests a habitation the rock caves in the period between the 11th and 13th centuries back. A larger number of similar caves dating from the Middle Ages were rediscovered and excavated in the south of the church.
