Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve

The Ecological Reserve de Buenos Aires, also known as Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve, a 350 -acre lowland area on the banks of the Río de la Plata, east of Puerto Madero in Buenos Aires is located.

History

It originated in the 1970s, when in the course of the quick road construction in Buenos Aires rubble from demolished buildings was dumped into the river along the Avenida Costanera Sur. Over time, created by sedimentation of dry land, which is an example of the Argentine pampas in its biodiversity. One finds there today only a few trees, mainly willows, acacias and kapok. On 5 June 1986, the City Council ( Consejo de la Deliberante Ciudad de Buenos Aires ) adopted the Law No. 41 247, with which the region was placed under protection.

The future of Ökoreservats is uncertain. Plans for commercial development are a threat as well as plans to build a north-south highway, which will guide you through the Ecological Reserve.

Trails

Due to their proximity to the city, the Ecological Reserve is used as a recreational area of the capital city residents. In a number of ways birds can be observed, are gone biked and walk. The entrance to the National Park is located at the south end of Puerto Madero.
