Cotroceni Palace

Cotroceni Palace ( Romanian " Palatul Cotroceni " ) is located in Bucharest in the Cotroceni neighborhood.

Prince Şerban Cantacuzino was 1679 I. ( 1640-1688 ) built a monastery on the Cotroceni hill. Cotroceni Palace was built in 1888 by order of King Charles I to the plans of the French architect Paul Gottereau in the monastery complex to serve as a royal residence.

The furnaces were supplied in large part by Sommerhuber.

The castle was later renovated by the Romanian architect Grigore Cerchez. Nicolae Ceauşescu demolished the old monastery church in his tenure. 1991 were opened in the first two wings of the palace, the National Museum Cotroceni. The third wing is now the official residence of the President of Romania is ( Presidential Palace ).
