Cotton Warburton

Irvin Eugene " Cotton" Warburton ( born October 8, 1911 in San Diego, † April 21, 1982 in Culver City, California ) was an American editor, Oscar winner and former college football player who is elected for three consecutive times to the All- American was ( 1932-1934 ).

Life

Irvin Eugene Warburton was born as one of four sons of Margaret Warburton, a Scottish immigrant, in San Diego, California. After 1930 Warburton took the California Championship on the high school mile during his time at the San Diego High School, he was appointed as a running back from the USC Trojans, the football team of the University of Southern California. After the first year, 1932, the unbeaten college football championship, the Rose Bowl won, he won three times in a row as All-American. During the three years he led the team in as quarterback and managed a total of 1357 yards. In 1975, he was taken up for these services in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Then he moved into the film business, where he in 1943 with the two comedies Air Raid Wardens and Three Hearts for Julia first came into existence as a sectional champion. After the athletes Drama Crazylegs he received an Oscar nomination in 1954, he was awarded in 1965 for his work on Mary Poppins for Best Editing.

His nickname Cotton he received already during college because of his blond hair.

On April 21, Cotton Warburton died in 1982, after he had been admitted for a heart attack to the Brotman Medical Center.
