Cougar Town

Cougar Town (also known as Cougar Town - 40 is the new 20) is an American television series that aired from September 2009 to May 2012 on ABC. By the fourth season, the show moved in the spring of 2013 to the cable station TBS. The sitcom tells the story of the ups and downs in the life of a recently divorced 40 - year-old woman and her friends.

Action

The series takes place in the fictional Gulf Haven in Sarasota County, Florida. Jules Cobb, who is a professional real estate agent is separated from her ex-husband Bobby and cares only about its nearly 18- year-old son Travis. Production & broadcasting

The producer of the series Bill Lawrence and actress Christa Miller ( Ellie Torres) are married. Both were already working in Lawrence prior series Scrubs - The Beginners together.

Although the series is set in Florida, it is produced in Culver City, California.

United States

The series was first broadcast on 23 September 2009 on the U.S. television network ABC. On 8 October 2009 more Cougar Town episodes have been ordered by ABC, the first season comprises 24 episodes. First, the series in the U.S. started with about eleven million viewers. Within 14 episodes, the series had just lost half and only reached six million viewers. On 12 January 2010, ABC has ordered a second Cougar Town Season that aired from September 22, 2010. Between February 9th and April 6th, 2011 paused Cougar Town to make the new series Mr. Sunshine Place. The remaining eight episodes were broadcast in April and May 2011.

10 January 2011 ABC extended the series for a third season. The original 22 episodes ordered a third season was reduced in November 2011 by ABC on a circumference of 15 episodes. The charisma of this third season takes place from 14 February to 29 May 2012. Due to the continued decline in ratings in the third season, the series will change with the beginning of the fourth season to the cable station TBS. The broadcast of the fourth season takes place January 8 2013.Am March 25, 2013 gave the TBS extension to a fifth season known which will consist of 13 episodes. The broadcast took place from January 7 to April 1, 2014.

Austria

The Austrian ORF 1 radiated from the first season of the series from 19 July to 11 October 2010. The second season was broadcast in double episodes from June 27 to September 5, 2011. The broadcast of the third season began on 1 October 2012.

In Germany Sat.1 radiated from the first season of the series from 25 July to 19 December 2010. The last two episodes were doing unausgestrahlt. The series started with about 2 million viewers. Again, the series lost within a short time a part of their audience. Just one week after first broadcast, the number of spectators had fallen to 1.48 million. Overall, the sequels to the first season reached a market share of 9.7 percent in the target demographic.

The series ran from 22 June 2011, in double episodes in the program of ProSieben. First, the two remaining episodes of the first season were shown the second season followed then from 29 June 2011. Due to the modest audience with, among other things under a million viewers on July 6, 2011, ProSieben moved the series from July 20 to a later time slot. Switzerland

In Switzerland exuded 3 , the first season of the series from 21 August to 30 October 2010. On opening day, the first four episodes were shown after the series ran in double episodes. The second season was also broadcast in double episodes from July 2, 2011 on Saturdays and Sundays.

Title

Cougar is English and is called in German translated Puma. Colloquially called Cougar in English as well: an older woman who has or is looking for a relationship with a much younger man. As it was in the first part of the first season also about the decision was made in the production of this item. Prior to the production of the second season was thought about a title adaptation of the TV series. First, it was decided, however, for marketing reasons with a new title. Lawrence announced plans to change the title at the start of the third season in the fall of 2011, however, a change took place not more.

Trivia

In episode 13 of the first season, runs the comedy series Scrubs - which was also produced by Bill Lawrence, on television.
In episode 13 of the second season Jules asks in a conversation with Barb, whether they would only have to change their name before they would no longer consider it a cougar. These are the considerations to change the title of the series to a reference.
