Coumatetralyl can be obtained by reaction of 4- hydroxycoumarin with 1- tetralol.
Properties
Coumatetralyl is a flammable colorless solid which is practically insoluble in water. It decomposes at a temperature as 172 ° C.
Use
Coumatetralyl is used as rat and mouse control products ( rodenticide ). It belongs to the same group, such as warfarin and is a first generation anti-coagulant. This means that the fabric prevents blood clotting, so that the target organism 5 to 10 days after the inclusion of the active die from internal bleeding.
In Germany and Switzerland - except in rodenticides - admitted no other plant protection products containing coumatetralyl as active ingredient.
