Countess Palatine Dorothea of Simmern

Dorothea von Pfalz- simmering ( born January 6, 1581 Kaiserslautern, † September 18, 1631 in Sandersleben ) was a Countess Palatine of simmering and by marriage Princess of Anhalt- Dessau.

Life

Dorothea was the only surviving child of the Count Palatine Johann Casimir of simmering (1543-1592) from his marriage to Elizabeth (1552-1590), daughter of the Elector Augustus of Saxony.

They married on February 21, 1595 in Heidelberg, Prince Johann Georg I of Anhalt -Dessau ( 1567-1618 ). The marriage led Elector Frederick IV of the Palatinate, her guardian, in the way. Under the influence of his wife Johann Georg I. 1596 came openly to Calvinism. After the death of her husband, Dorothea withdrew to her jointure Office and Castle Sander life.

Dorothea was buried in St. Mary's Church of Dessau. The grave monument were set in 1631 her two older sons. Under the name The host Free Dorothea was a member of virtue Lichen Society.
