Countess Palatine Elisabeth Auguste Sofie of Neuburg

Elisabeth Auguste Sofie von der Pfalz ( born March 17, 1693 † January 30, 1728 ) was a daughter of the Palatine Elector Karl Philipp of the Palatinate -Neuburg line and whose first wife Ludwika Carolina Charlotte von Radziwill - Birze.

Life

Elisabeth Auguste was the only legitimate child of the Elector, which reached adulthood. For dynastic reasons she was married in 1717 by her father Joseph Karl von Pfalz- Sulzbach, the designated successor, Charles Philipps. Thus, the two lines Wittelsbach Palatinate -Neuburg Palatinate -Sulzbach and were merged.

The eldest son of this union would become Elector Palatine, but all the sons of the couple died in childhood. Elizabeth died in 1728, in another miscarriage. Nevertheless, their line continued to live on her two daughters Elisabeth Auguste and Maria Franziska Dorothea. Elisabeth Auguste was married to Karl Theodor and Maria Franziska was on the side of her husband, Friedrich Michael von Pfalz- Birkenfeld to the founder of the Bavarian royal line until 1918 and their descendants to the present.

Elizabeth of the Palatinate found their final resting place in St. Michael in Munich.
