Countess Sophie Henriette of Waldeck

Sophia Henriette von Waldeck ( born August 3, 1662 at Arolsen, † October 15, 1702 in Erbach ) was Duchess of Saxony- Hildburghausen.

Life

Sophia Henriette was a daughter of Field Marshal Prince Georg Friedrich of Waldeck and his wife Countess Elisabeth Charlotte of Nassau- Siegen ( 1626-1694 ).

She married on 30 November 1680 in Arolsen Duke Ernst of Saxe- Hildburghausen, a friend and comrade of her father, with whom she lived in Arolsen to 1683. After the completion of the castle in Hildburghausen, the couple resided there. To her eldest son Sophie Henriette had a very close relationship. She made his marriage with the daughter of her cousin. The Duchess died but before the wedding in 1702 at Schloss Erbach ten days after she had given birth to her youngest son. She was buried first corpse in the new royal crypt under the castle church.

Sophia Henriette's father died in 1692 without a male heir to. Waldeck fell to the line Wildungen who received three daughters Prince Georg Friedrich's heritage but as the Geldernsche County Cuylenburg ( Crölsburg ). After the death of Sophia Henriette's older sister Louise Anna (1653-1714), was Sophia Henriette's eldest son, heir to the earldom, but which he later sold to the Netherlands.
