County of Horne

The county Hoorn (Dutch horn) lay in the present Dutch province of Limburg. The county consisted of several small areas.

It was in 1450 raised to the kingdom of County and came after the death of Count Philippe de Montmorency, Count of Hoorn, in 1568 in different hands. The Prince-Bishopric of Liège had it since 1576 the overall supervision and obtained in 1614 the full rights over them. Ever since that time it belonged - as the Bishopric of Liège - Lower Rhenish - Westphalian Circle.

1801 she came to France in 1815 to the Netherlands.
