Courcouronnes

Courcouronnes is a commune south of Paris with 13,696 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Essonne. It belongs to the district of the canton of Evry, Evry -Nord. The inhabitants are called Courcouronnais.

Geography

Courcouronnes is located in the countryside of Hurepoix. In the north the municipality is limited by Ris -Orangis, in the northeast and east by Evry, in the southeast and south by Lisses and the west and southwest Bondoufle.

History

Courcouronnes is proven in the 10th century existent. The relics of the Breton saints Gwenaël have been preserved here. In 1191 the first church was built near the road to Versailles.

With the founding of the city of Evry plan in the 1960s there were also delays in Courcouronnes a population boost. Was the significance of the place with the establishment of Arianespace.
