Court-Saint -Etienne ( Walloon cou - Sint- Stiene ) is a commune in the French-speaking province of Walloon Brabant in Belgium.

Geography

Through the city flows three watercourses, the Dyle, the Thyle and the Orne. The Dyle river valley has the narrowest of the three, with a strong gradient from the surface to 60 m height to the edge height of 100 m. In the park of the former castle of Court-Saint -Etienne the Orne flows into the Thyle, which in turn flows into the Dyle.

The municipal council ( Conseil Communal ) has 22 members, out of him the Collège with the mayor and four aldermen ( Echevins ) is formed.

Coat of arms

Since March 5, 1914 Court-Saint -Etienne leads a gevierten shield as coat of arms. The first field in silver shows a green mountain in allusion to the numerous burial mounds that were found in this area. The second in gold shows Saint Stefan ( Saint Etienne), in a blue robe. The third in silver shows a green tree, the Arbre de la Justice (Tree of the court) that once was located on the highest point of the city and served on the execution of the guilty. The fourth shows a golden gear wheel on sand-colored base, which stands for the metal processing industry, which has brought prosperity to the town.
