Courtepin

Courtepin is a municipality in the lake district (French: District du Lac ) of the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. The Germanized form of the name Curtepy is now common only in the vernacular. The formerly independent municipality Courtaman was incorporated on January 1, 2003 by Courtepin.

Geography

Courtepin is on 578 m above sea level. M., 7 km north- northwest of the capital of the canton of Fribourg (air line). The village is located in a wide valley one opening into the Schiffenensee brook, in the Molassehöhen in the northern Fribourg plateau.

The area of ​​4.1 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the over-molded by glacial Rhône glacier Molassehöhen between Murten and the Saanen valley. The central part of the area takes up to 700 m wide Talniederung the village stream of Courtepin to which the forest area in the south of Bois de l' Hôpital (up to 660 m above sea level. Neighboring communities of Courtepin are Gurmels, Barberêche, Courtion and Wall Ried.

Population

With 3503 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Courtepin belongs to the medium-sized municipalities in the canton of Fribourg. Of live 1649 people in the village proper Courtepin. Of the residents, 57.7 % are French-speaking, German-speaking and 26.3%, 8.0% speak Portuguese (as of 2000). The population of Courtepin amounted in 1850 to 316 residents in 1900 to 443 inhabitants (including today eingemeindeten Courtaman ). Economy

Traffic

History

The territory of Courtepin was settled very early. The earliest evidence of human presence are the burial mounds in the Bois de l' Hôpital, dating from the Hallstatt period. Courtepin was in the Middle Ages part of the property of the Counts of Thierstein. 1442 the village came by purchase under the rule of Freiburg and then became part of the Old Landscape ( Spitalpanner ). After the collapse of the ancien régime (1798 ) was one Courtepin during the Helvetic Republic and the subsequent time to the district of Freiburg and from 1831 to the German district of Freiburg, before it was incorporated in 1848 with the new cantonal constitution in the lake district.
