Courtland (also Ebenezer ) is a town in Lawrence County, Alabama, United States. The town has a total area of 6.0 km ². In earlier days Ville Court had a federal court, hence the place got its name. According to an estimate from 2007 Courtland had 763 inhabitants.

Demography

According to the census of 2000 Courtland had 769 inhabitants, distributed among 316 households and 210 families. The population density was thus 60.4 inhabitants / km ². 54.23 % of the population were white, 40.44 % African American. In 32.9 % of households were living children under 18 years. The average income per household was $ 27,500, with 20.2 % of the population were below the poverty line.
