Courtney Walsh

Courtney Andrew Walsh ( born October 30, 1962 in Kingston, Jamaica ) is a former Jamaican cricketer, who played for the team from the West Indies. He is considered one of the best fast bowlers in the history of cricket. In 1987 he was elected one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year.

Courtney Walsh played 132 Test matches for the West Indies. He scored a total of 519 wickets. Between 2000 and 2004 he held the record for the most goals Testwickets. His test debut Walsh in November 1984 against Australia in Perth. Walsh was a well-known specialist as fast- bowler. His skills as a batsman, however, were not particularly pronounced. To date, no other player is excreted frequently in encounters in Test cricket to have achieved without a single run, as Courtney Walsh ( 43 times ). Its last use in a test for the team of the West Indies he had in April 2001 against South Africa in his hometown of Kingston. His debut in a One Day International match he celebrated on January 10, 1985 against Sri Lanka. In ODIs Walsh was not as successful as in tests. In the 205 ODIs, in which he took part, he scored a total of 227 wickets. He also participated with the West Indies Cricket team in three World Cups (1987, 1996 and 1999). Its last use in a ODI had Courtney Walsh on 11 January 2000 against New Zealand in Christchurch.
