Cousin Kate

Seduction of marriage (AKA ' Cousin Kate ) is a novel by Georgette Heyer, who appeared in The Bodley Head first in 1968. 1969 published the Zsolnay Verlag ( Vienna, Hamburg), the German edition, translated by Margrit grains used to this day.

Action

Kate Malvern grew up in a Spanish garrison and since the age of twelve without a mother. After the death of her father, she must earn her living as a governess. Because she is very pretty, but is dismissed from their employment because the son of the house tried to kiss her. She finds temporary shelter with their children now married Mrs. Sarah Nidd.

Sarah writes on pressure of her father without Kate's knowledge to the half-sister of the father, Lady Minerva Broome who arrive after a few days to an extended visit to Staplewood, the secluded manor of Broome of Staplewood to take Kate. There she showered with gifts Kate and many kindnesses which leave ambivalent towards Kate.

The life of Broomes is sad and unfortunate. Sir Timothy, the sick man of the house, nothing but wants to be left in peace. Torquil, the 19 -year-old son and heir, has strange manners and is constantly guarded, Dr. Delabole, the doctor of the house, mixes everywhere with the servants is split into hostile camps, and over all sits Lady Broome and ruled with an iron hand.
