Couvin is a municipality in the province of Namur in the Walloon region of Belgium.

It consists of the districts Couvin, Aublain, Boussu -en- Fagne, Brûly, Brûly -de- Pesche, Cul -des- Sarts, Dailly, Frasnes- lez- Couvin, Gonrieux, Mariembourg, Pesche, Petigny, Petite- Chapelle and Presgaux.

History

In the hamlet Brûly -de- Pesche was in June 1940, the Führer's headquarters Wolfschlucht 1, from which Hitler commanded the last phase of his campaign in France. At that time included Brûly -de- Pesche three houses, a hostel, a school, church and rectory as well as some farms. Its 119 inhabitants were evacuated on May 28, 1940 within three hours. Hitler was here to build a bunker, he only once entered, to be stated its completion. On June 28, 1940, Hitler withdrew permanently.
