Covidien

Covidien plc is an originally US-based company with headquarters in Dublin, Ireland and U.S. headquarters in Mansfield ( Massachusetts).

History

On January 13, 2006, the company Tyco International was founded in 1960 announced to split into three publicly traded companies: Tyco Healthcare, Tyco Electronics and Tyco Fire & Security. The spin -off was made on 29 April 2007.

Covidien was officially established on 29 June 2007 from the company Tyco Healthcare and produces various pharmaceutical products and medical technology products. Under the umbrella of Covidien several medical brands have since represented:

  • Auto Suture
  • Bio -Surgery
  • Kendall
  • Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and Mallinckrodt Imaging ( until mid-2013, these were self-employed)
  • Syneture
  • Nellcor
  • Puritan Bennett
  • Sofradim
  • Valleylab

End of 2008, the group decided to move its headquarters from Bermuda to Ireland. The relocation to Dublin was completed on June 4, 2009. The event also marked the company's transformation into a joint stock company under the laws of Ireland.

In 2010 the company announced the catheter manufacturer " ev3 " for 2.6 billion U.S. $ to have taken over.

In Élancourt in Paris Covidien has a central training center for the conventional and laparoscopic surgery, as well as for intensive medical courses.

Naming

Covidien is the English-language terms Collaboration and Compassion for integrated cooperation in medicine and composite end empathy for the patient, making the logo have the two " C". VI stands for the Latin Vita, life.

Covidien Germany GmbH

The German office is located in Neustadt an der Donau and is registered in the commercial register of Regensburg. Covidien inherited the headquarters of the branch established in 1973 from Kendall. The company is divided into Germany into four business units:

  • Surgical & Energy Based Devices ( laparoscopy, stapling, sutures, hernia mesh, electro-surgery )
  • Respiratory & Monitoring Solutions ( ventilation, monitoring, intensive care and emergency medicine)
  • Medical ( urology, enteral nutrition, thermometry, dialysis, electrodes, thrombosis prophylaxis, security systems, modern wound care ) and
  • Pharmaceuticals ( contrast agent injector systems, nuclear medicine )
