Covington County (Mississippi)

The Covington County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Collins.

The County is located in south-central Mississippi and has an area of 1075 square kilometers, of which three square miles are water. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

The Covington County was formed on February 5, 1819 from parts of Lawrence County and Wayne County. It was named after General Lenard W. Covington, who was killed in the British -American War of 1812.
