History

Originally the site was a local shopping center for the surrounding ranches and possessed at times, from 1908 to 1918, a private post office. In the 1950s, people began to grow cotton in the area of irrigated fields. This led to a rapid population increase between 1958, about 200 inhabitants, and 1961 tripled the number of inhabitants. Because of the rise in oil prices in the mid-1970s, the cultivation of cotton rentierte on artificially irrigated fields no more, and many farms had to give up. The population dropped to 270 in 1975, a size that held the place until the early 1990s. In the census of 2000 the town had 138 inhabitants. The population grew to 163 in 2010.
