CP Puppis

CP Puppis ( Nova Puppis also 1942) was one of the lightest and fastest Nova phenomena of the 20th century. They shone in 1942 in the constellation Puppis, reaching 0.3 mag. The supernova remnant is a cataclysmic variables (CV) with a very short orbital period of novae for only 1.47 hours.

The high flux in the X-ray region and its strong modulation with a period of 1.47 hours also indicate a possible magnetic nature of the white dwarf, and the system belongs thus possibly the class of DQ Herculis stars.
