Craig Alexander (triathlete)

Craig Alexander ( born June 22, 1973 in Cronulla Beach ) is an Australian triathlete and triathlon world champion middle distance (2006, 2011) and to the long distance ( 2008, 2009, 2011).

Career

Craig Alexander completed his first triathlon in 1994 and was mainly due to the half- Ironman distance ( Ironman 70.3 ) successfully. In 2006 he became world champion in the Ironman 70.3 and the American Triathlete Magazine named him the " U.S. Triathlete of the Year".

In 2008 he won the World Cup over the long distance to Hawaii for themselves and this victory in 2009 ( go 3.86 km swim, 180.2 km bike, 42.195 km running) on the Ironman distance defend.

In 2011 he once again won the World Championship on the middle distance, as this first held in Henderson, south of Las Vegas. In October he reached his third win at Ironman Hawaii age of 38. So Craig Alexander is after Dave Scott, Mark Allen and Peter Reid, the fourth athlete who here could achieve more than twice the victory. With his winning time he could improve on Hawaii the 15 -year-old course record of Luc Van Lierde (1996).

" Crowie " now lives with his wife Neri and daughter Lucy in Boulder (Colorado). In October 2013, he announced after the Ironman Hawaii, wanting to finish his career. After he had explained in the spring of 2014 his international retirement, he shared in March after the Ironman Melbourne to want to start in the future solely on the short and medium distance.
