Craig Brewster

Craig James Brewster ( born December 13, 1966 in Dundee) is a former Scottish footballer and current coach.

Career

Craig Brewster began as a student in the youth team of Dundee United to play soccer, but there was no contract for the first team offered. That's why he played for a while with Dundee Stobswell before he hired in 1985 at the former Scottish second division side Forfar Athletic. At that time he was still midfielder, yet shot in his 191 games for Forfar but 35 goals. This also attracted the attention of other clubs up and Brewster in 1991 committed by the Raith Rovers. In the Rovers, he was converted into a striker and was able to achieve an incredible 55 goals along with strike partner Gordon Dalziel in the 1992/93 season. The Rovers were in this season champions in the second Scottish league. In the summer of 1993, he moved to Brewster Dundee United, with whom he won the Scottish Cup in 1994. He scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 final win against Glasgow Rangers. Despite this success, Dundee increased sequentially 1995 season in the second division from 1996 and on again. During the ascent season Brewster shot in the league match against FC Dumbarton 4 goals.

In 1996 he moved then to the Greek first division club Ionikos Nikea, where he remained for five years and was able to achieve 45 goals in 144 games. In 2000, he was with Ionikos in the cup final, which was, however, lost to AEK Athens. It was followed by a move to Hibernian in the Scottish homeland. There Brewster was indeed a regular player, but he fired just 3 goals in 25 games and left the club at the end of the season towards Dunfermline Athletic. In Dunfermline he was back to his old form and there were increased demands from fans and media to refer him to the national team. However, the then coach Berti Vogts not nominated him. In November 2004, Brewster was appointed player-manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who had previously been promoted to the Scottish Premier League. In January 2006, he returned to his hometown club Dundee United, where he has also served as player-coach, but without success. After nine months, his contract was terminated by mutual consent again and his coaching career was ended for the time being, because under Brewster then wrote a contract as a player at FC Aberdeen. There he played the second half of the 2006/07 season and helped Aberdeen to a strong third place in the table and thus qualifying for the UEFA Cup.

In the 2007 /08 season he scored in the first three games for Aberdeen three goals, but then switched back as player-coach back to Inverness Caledonian Thistle where he has exercised the same items already from November 2004 to January 2006. Since the 2008/ 09 season he was no longer part of the first team and thus had no opportunity to place themselves on the square. On 19 January 2009, Brewster was released after seven defeats in a row as coach. A few days later, his next engagement began at second division promoted Ross County. There he was active as a player and assistant coach Derek Adams until December 2010. In the Scottish FA Cup 2009/10 he reached with his team the final, which they lost 3-0 against Dundee United. Shortly after Willie McStay took over as coach in Ross County, had to leave the club assistant coach Brewster. In May 2011, the Scot was presented as the new assistant coach of the English fourth division - climber Crawley Town. This club had managed for the first time by winning the championship in the club's promotion to the Football League.
