Craig Foster

Craig Andrew Foster ( born April 15, 1969 in Lismore ) is a former Australian football player who was active between 1989 and 2003. He also starred as one of only a few Aborigines in the Australian national football team.

Career

Foster graduated from the Australian Institute of Sport in 1987 and played in 1989 at Sydney United. In the same year he was still moved to the Sunshine Georgies, a club from a Melbourne suburb. He remained there until 1990. 1991 and 1992 was followed by various engagements with various smaller clubs from Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Serbia. 1995 to 1996 played at Adelaide Foster City, in the next two years with the Marconi Stallions. 1997 he moved to England to Portsmouth, where he played 16 games and scored two goals. From 1998 to 2000 Foster played at Crystal Palace, in 2000 he returned to his homeland to Northern Spirit FC in the North Sydney back in 2003 he finished his career officially in 2007, followed by a new commitment to Waverley Old Boys FC.

After Foster in 1985 played in the Australian U-17 national team, in 1996 he gave his debut in the senior team. In 1997 he took part in the Confederations Cup, in 1996 and 2000, he won the OFC Nations Cup. In total he played between 1996 and 2000 29 international matches and scored nine goals.

Foster, who was also active in the players' union, these days works as a commentator for the Australian government TV station SBS.
