Craig Safan

Craig Safan (born 17 December 1948 in Los Angeles ) is an American composer.

Career

He began his artistic career as an arranger and composer in the theater.

His first work for the film was the soundtrack of the documentary The California Reich ( Director: Keith Critchlow and Walter F. Parkes) from the year 1975.

In the 1980s, he was drawn to the film and he composed many of his scores with synthesizers such as the Synclavier. It wrote at this time music for films such as warning signs gene Killer, The Time Trap (1987 ), A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 (1988) and Stand and Deliver. His style often consisted of improvisation as a form of composition.

Previously composed Safan for more than 70 films and numerous television series. Among his best-known works as a Hollywood film composer include titles for The Last Starfighter (1993 ), Angel - road without end, Fade to Black - The beautiful murder of Eric Binford, On Major Payne (1995), Remo - unarmed and dangerous and the music for the TV series Cheers. He was eight times received awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers ( ASCAP ) and once nominated for an Emmy; he is also the recipient of a Watson Foundation Fellowship.

Safan, the member of the music committee of the Oscar awarded the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is, divides his time between Los Angeles and New York City, where he composed for musical and theater productions.
