History

Craiglockhart hospital situated on a hill in a suburb of Edinburgh. The hospital consisted of different parts of the City Hospital (1896 ) and the Old Craig House since 1878 a Psychiatric Hospital, the City Poor House (1867 ), which served only as a poorhouse and later as a nursing home and the Craiglockhart Hydropathic institution of a medical spa facility. From 1916 - 1919 the psychiatric hospital and were ' Hydropathic institution ' were treated to a hospital in the soldiers who suffered from war neurosis. The most famous patient of the hospital were Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen, who wrote in the Journal of the hospital with the ambiguous title The Hydra. From a medical perspective, the hospital was by the physician WHR Rivers known who treated also Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen here.
