Cramerton is a small town in Gaston County in the U.S. state of North Carolina. According to the census in 2000 it had a population of 2,976 in an area of 10.0 km ². The population density is 321 per km ². Previously wore Cramerton the name Maysworth.

Geography

Cramerton is located at an elevation of 189 meters above sea level. In the southwestern part of the urban area, the Berry Mountain located with 281 m height and the Cramer Mountain with 259 m height.

According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has an area of 10 sq km, including 0.7 km ² (7.25 %) of water. The area of Cramerton is divided by the course of the South Fork Catawba River, which flows around the city center.

Demography

According to the census of 2000, there were 2,976 people; were counted 1,169 households, and 859 families. The population density was 831 inhabitants per km ². There 1,229 residential units were recorded. The racial the population was composed of 94.1 % White, 2.4% Black or African American, 0.5 % Native American, 1.9 % Asian and 0.2 % from other ethnic groups; 0.9 % stated that the lineage of several ethnicities. 0.4 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 1,169 households out of which 35.4 % have children living with them. 60.7 % were married couples living together, 9.8 % had a female householder with no husband, and 26.5% were non-families. 22.2% of all households and 10.0% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size 2.97.

The population was spread out with 25.9 % under the age of 18, 5.8 % from 18 to 24, 31.7 % 25-44 years, 25.1% from 45 to 64 years and 11.5 % of 65 years or older. The average age (median) was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 91.6 males per 100 adult women aged 18 and over, there were 88.1 males.

The median income for a household (median) was $ 47 610, and the median income for a family $ 56,071. Males have a median income of $ 37,679, women $ 27,330. The per capita income was $ 25,503. Under the poverty line 3.3 % of families and 4.9 % of the population, including 4.2% of the population under the age of 18 and 10.9 % of the population lived at the age of 65 years or older.
