Cranendonck

The community Cranendonck ( listen? / I ) is located in the Dutch province of North Brabant ( nl. Noord -Brabant).

The municipality was part of a territorial reform on 1 January 1997 from the formerly independent communities of Budel ( with Budel Budel - Schoot and - Dorplein ) and Maarheeze (having Gastel and Soerendonk ). It has 20,358 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013), an area of ​​78.14 km ² and is situated at an altitude of about 20 meters above sea level. The area of the municipality is hilly and consists mainly of agricultural area used, and larger forest areas, the water surface is comparatively small.

Cranendonck lies directly on the border with Belgium, about 18 kilometers south of Eindhoven, 8 km west of Weert and 40 km north of the Belgian city of Hasselt. The community is located near the A2 (E25 ); The nearest train stations are in Eindhoven and Weert. Close to the cities Eindhoven and Maastricht, as are the nearest regional airports.

The community was named after the very well-preserved castle Kasteel Cranendonck.
