Cratippus of Athens

Kratippos of Athens (Greek Κράτιππος Latinized, Cratippus ) was an ancient Greek historian who is said to have lived BC in the late 4th century 5./frühen.

About Kratippos very little is known. Dionysius of Halicarnassus reports that Kratippos was a contemporary of Thucydides and have its work, which ends BC 411 continued ( Dionysius, de Thucydide, Chapter 16). The work is not obtained (see also The fragments of Greek historians No. 64). His research has been partially considered later " dizziness author ", for example, by Felix Jacoby, who was not a contemporary of Thucydides. This was contradicted by about Klaus master, who, viewing along with other researchers, Kratippos as an important historian and author of the Hellenica Oxyrhynchia, but this is very controversial.
