Cratippus of Pergamon

Kratippos of Pergamum (Greek Κράτιππος, latin Cratippus, * in Pergamon ) a Greek philosopher in the 1st century BC was His writings are lost, and he is just out - sometimes detailed - mentions known, particularly in Cicero, but also Plutarch.

Kratippos Peripatetics and was a close friend of Cicero, whom he met in Mytilene BC 51. In Mytilene he stayed well at least until 48 BC, when he before the battle of Pharsalus Pompey sought to comfort him with the doctrine of providence. Cicero himself, Brutus were instructed by Kratippos.
