Craven County, North Carolina

Craven County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is New Bern, which was related to the origin of most of the settlers of the city of Bern in Switzerland, named.

Geography

The County is located in Eastern North Carolina, is located in the southeast about 35 km from the Atlantic Ocean and has an area of ​​2005 square kilometers, of which 170 square kilometers are water surface. History

Craven County was formed in 1712. It was named after William Lord Craven, one of the early owners of Carolina. The first settlers were mainly German and Swiss immigrants.
