Creed (perfume)

Creed is a French perfume manufacturer and former Schneider and Herrenaustatter from London. The company refers to a 250 - year family tradition now in 7th generation.

History

In 1760, the Schneider James Creed ( 1710-1798 ) moved from Leicester to London. This is the beginning of the dynasty tailors Creed. His reputation acquired the house from the mid-19th century under Henry Creed ( 1824-1914 ) by his services for the famous Dandy d' Orsay, Queen Victoria and Empress Eugenie of France. There are " royal warrants " for riding apparel and other textile or leather goods. Inter alia was the coat of the Son of Napoleon III. tailored by Henry Creed, the draft was still in possession of his grandson, Charles Creed (1909-1966) In the following years, the house became the purveyor to many European royalty and the aristocracy and celebrities from politics and culture. Among his most exclusive clients included besides Queen Victoria, Emperor Napoleon III. and his wife Eugénie, the Spanish Queen Christina. The holder of Henry Creed was the k.u.k. Hoflieferantentitel awarded as a tailor in London. However, there is no historical evidence for Creed perfumes, both press reports and the company's advertising from the 19th century refer exclusively to clothing. Creed is a well known name in the fashion history, plays perfume history but unlike producers with a documented history ( Farina opposite, Guerlain, Houbigant, Lubin, etc., etc.. ) Do not matter.

About d'Orsay Creed established contacts to the French nobility and settled in partnership with a Mr. Cumberland in Paris in 1850, where the headquarters of the house is still located. Olivier Henry Creed now runs in the sixth generation of the company. It stands to reason that he took advantage of the rich history of the house to effective advertising realign the company as a perfume brand. The big breakthrough came in 1986 with the innovative Green Irish Tweed, which clearly bears the signature of the famous perfumer Pierre Bourdon (a few years later created this the closely related " Cool Water " for Davidoff, the Leitduft 90s ).

The dating of many Creed fragrances is anachronistic on the basis of their composition and many references to celebrities go back to rumors. Royal English Leather ( supposedly 1781) and Tabarome Private Collection (supposedly 1875) are stylistically and chemically, for example, typical scents of the 1920s, not the 18th or 19th century. They are either constructed in conscious retro style newer perfumes or were at the time given in small quantities as a purchase item or gift for Creeds private clients of the house in order. Octavian has Coifan Royal English Leather identified as ingenious variation of Coty L' Origan whose formula has been completely incorporated into the leather scent. This points to a very talented and historically conscious perfumer Coty down or even on himself, so also for the Viennese tailor Knize 1924 fragrance " Knize Ten" created.
