Cregganbaun

Cregganbaun (Irish: An Creagán Bán ) is a town in the southwest of County Mayo in the province of Connacht.

Geology

In the 1980s, there was a controversy about a possible gold mining in the region of Croagh Patrick, Cregganbaun and Doo Lough. This gold mining should be operated as a tourist attraction in the economic framework more.

Education

The " Cregganbaun National School " is no longer used today. Instead, the students go to Killeen or Louisburgh.

Traffic

From Cregganbaun the R335 leads north towards Louisburgh and south into the lake Doo Lough on the Doo Lough Pass towards Delphi ( Galway).
