Cremin is a municipality in the district Broye Vully the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Geography

Cremin is on 639 m above sea level. M., above Lucens, 12.5 km southwest of the district town Payerne ( straight line ). The farming village extends on a plateau west of the center Broyetals, in the Vaud Mittelland.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1365 under the name Cremyn. The place name derives from Cret -Mare ( in the meaning of crêt sur ​​le marais, slight elevation in or on the edge of a bog ), from which first Cremar, then developed Cremin.

Since its first mention Cremin was part of the Nobles of Lucens, which in turn was under the Bishop of Lausanne. With the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536, Cremin came under the administration of the bailiwick Moudon. After the collapse of the ancien régime, the village belonged from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic to the canton of Geneva, who came up then with the enactment of the Act of Mediation in the canton of Vaud. 1798 was assigned to the District Moudon. Cremin formerly belonged to the parish Curtilles, which was merged with Lucens.
