Cretonne

In Cretonne is coarser linen-weave cotton base fabric with dull appearance and a relatively hard handle, which is used among other things as a basic commodity.

Unbleached, bleached, dyed or printed, this material is extremely versatile and finds eg for upholstery or curtains heavy use.

The Cretonne was invented by Paul Creton, in Vimoutiers in the Pays d'Auge, Normandy, France; a place that was very active in the textile industry in the last few centuries.
