Cristi Puiu

Cristi Puiu ( born April 3, 1967 in Bucharest, Romania) is a Romanian film director and screenwriter.

Puiu studied painting at the Ecole Supérieure and directed by d'Art Visuel in Geneva and in 2001 published his feature film debut with the goods and the money, which he directed and wrote the screenplay. For this road movie that deals with the social situation in Eastern Europe, he was at several international film festivals, including in Bratislava and Thessaloniki, excellent. His next directorial effort was the winner of the Golden Bear short film Cigarettes and Coffee.

With the re- multi-award -winning and critically acclaimed The Death of Mr. Lazarescu he succeeded in 2005, the final breakthrough. Puiu was nominated in 2005 the price of the auxiliary series Un Certain Regard and was in Directing for the European Film Award for this film at the International Film Festival in Cannes.
