Cristian Deville

Cristian Deville ( born January 3, 1981 in Cavalese ) is an Italian alpine skier. He is a member of the Italian national ski team since 1999 and specializes in the slalom discipline.

Biography

Deville grew up in Moena, a village near Bolzano, where he still lives today. The Fassa is employed by the Guardia di Finanza, biking for Ski Club GS Fiamme Gialle. He celebrated his first major success in 2001 by winning the Italian Junior Championships in slalom. In the same year he was at the Junior World Championships in Switzerland Verbier third in the slalom.

After Deville was launched in December 2000 at the European Cup, he gave in January 2003 in Kranjska Gora his debut in the World Cup. First World Cup points he won on February 15, 2004 18th place in the slalom in St. Anton am Arlberg. After another top -20 results and a first top-10 result he found in the 2007/2008 season with a fifth place in Bad Kleinkirchheim, a fourth place in Garmisch- Partenkirchen and the eleventh overall in the slalom World Cup connection to the top. After two weak years in which he had come in the slalom World Cup just below the top 30, he reached in the 2010/2011 season again two top 5 results and the eleventh place in the slalom World Cup.

Where major events Deville was first with no results. In his first two 2005 World Championships in Bormio and 2007 in Åre, he retired in slalom from each. After he had not participated in the 2009 World Cup, he left even at his Olympic debut in Vancouver in 2010 in the first run. For the first time without failure, he remained at the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch -Partenkirchen. There he achieved seventh place in the slalom.

On December 8, 2011 Deville reached its first podium finish in a World Cup race as he drove to second place in the slalom in Beaver Creek. The first World Cup victory was 22 January 2012 at the Hahnenkamm slalom in Kitzbuehel. With a total of four podium finishes, he finished fourth in the slalom discipline rating of the season 2011/2012.
